Sports were put on hold due to COVID-19 and at the beginning of 2021, athletes who hadn’t been able to compete at the beginning of the school year were still anxiously awaiting their sports seasons. Finally in February, sports seasons were able to start and both high schools held all of their sports seasons from February to June. So seasons that usually spanned from August to June, 11 months, were squeezed into four and a half months.

Many restrictions and mandates were required, from constant COVID-19 testing to mandatory mask wearing inside and out, social distancing and limited contact practice, to name a few.  Seasons were shorter and many athletes were put on quarantine, which further added to the frustration; in fact, football only played four games.

Then, the fall sports of football, volleyball, cross country and golf would come back four months later and actually have two seasons in 2021.
