The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) announced updates to its staff on June 18. William Chavarin has accepted the position of CIF Director, Christina Shannon joins the staff as Assistant to the Executive Director, while Lisa Tomasello is the new Administrative Assistant for the State Office. Additionally,  Brian Seymour has been promoted to Associate Executive Director.

“We already have an outstanding group of people who work hard to serve our member schools. William, Christina and Lisa will only enhance our team,” stated incoming CIF

Executive Director Ron Nocetti. Chavarin, previously a high school principal, athletic director and CIF Executive Committee Member, earned his master’s in arts, educational leadership & administrative credential from San Jose State and a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies from California State University, Monterey Bay.

Shannon is no stranger to CIF, having formerly worked at the Section and high school levels serving CIF Member Schools, while Tomasello has extensive administrative experience at the school site level.

Seymour originally joined the CIF State Office in 2011 and has risen through the ranks during his tenure. He will assume the role of Associate Executive Director beginning Aug. 1, when Nocetti officially becomes CIF Executive Director.

“Brian has an exemplary reputation throughout the CIF organization and its member schools, and we are fortunate to have someone with his experience serving in this role,” stated Nocetti. “He is a leader in education-based athletics in California, and I’m proud to be working side-by-side with him.”
