Down by three touchdowns in the first half, the Liberty Ranch Hawks faced one of the better teams in the Sierra Valley Conference in the second-to-last game of the regular season and lost 28-7.
The game preceded the Hawks’ league finale with Galt, whom they will face for the Dairy Bowl trophy Friday, Nov. 1 at Galt High School.
The game gave the Hawks a 4-5 overall record.
Rosemont’s DeMarco Brodnax scored on a touchdown reception, Zion Gedeon scored on a nine-yard run and Brodnax scored on a second touchdown reception to take a 21-0 lead over the Hawks, who celebrated senior night and also dealt with the loss of Austin Davis, who is out for the season due to a knee injury received during the game.
In the third quarter, the Hawks cut the Wolverines’ lead with a Gabriel Simoes-Ojeda touchdown and a Damian Ochoa PAT kick for a 21-7 game.
The Wolverines scored again on Gedeon’s second touchdown of the night and first in the fourth quarter to help contribute to the 28-7 final score.
The Hawks are now 2-2 in the SVC and will look to build on their eight-year Dairy Bowl win streak when they take on the Warriors (4-5, 0-4) at 7:30 p.m., according to both schools’ official schedules.
